On Feb. 17, 2013, country singer Mindy McCready was reportedly found dead in Heber Springs, Ark. of an apparent suicide, according to TMZ. She was 37.

The New York Daily News reports McCready’s brother confirmed her death.

NBC Dateline’s Andrea Canning tweeted she just received a call from the singer’s best friend saying McCready had “shot and killed herself…”

Record producer, David Wilson, the father of the performer’s youngest child, died in January of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Daily News reports the sheriff’s office in Cleburne County, Ark. has opened an investigation into his demise.

TMZ reports that less than two weeks ago—on Feb.6—a judge ordered McCready’s two children be removed from her home and she was sent to a mental health treatment facility where she was to be evaluated for alcohol abuse.

The report indicates the singer had tried to kill herself twice before, once in 2005 and another time in 2008, and had attempted rehabilitation several times.

In 2010 she appeared on VH1’s reality show “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” where she tried to overcome her issues with substance abuse.
