Country singer Mindy McCready dead at 37

It’s a sad, sad day in country music. According to numerous reports, Mindy McCready has been confirmed dead today, Feb. 18 of an apparent suicide, at the young age of 37.

A source close to McCready told E! Online that her body was found in Heber Springs, Arkansas.

Andrea Canning, a reporter with NBC Dateline tweeted, “Just got a call from Mindy McCready’s best friend that she shot and killed herself this evening My heart breaks for her two boys. RIP.”

Her passing comes just a little over a month after her boyfriend David Wilson’s death. Wilson’s death was initially reported as a suicide, but it now remains under investigation. Unfortunately Wilson’s death was just another tragedy in the midst of her downward spiral. The “Guys Do It All The Time” singer had a history of arrests, drug and alcohol abuse, custody battles, and various other run-ins with the law.

In January the country star tweeted, “Things have been hectic. But I’m still here.”

McCready leaves behind two sons: Zander 6, and Zayne, 9-months-old. The children were recently taken from McCready’s home. She was then admitted to rehab, but was released two days later.

Zander’s father Billy McKnight has recently stated that he is seeking custody of his son. Zayne’s father was Wilson, which unfortunately leaves the young boy parentless.

In McCready’s last interview following Wilson’s passing, she told NBC’s Andrea Canning, “I have never gone through anything this painful. He didn’t just touch my heart, he touched my soul. He was my soulmate.”

During McCready’s career she recorded five studio albums.

Music City grieves for a star gone much too soon.
