George Strait may be retiring from touring, but hot on the boot heels of this hit-maker's living legacy are a few new artists of extraordinary promise who are ready to take the reins. And Mercury Records’ Easton Corbin is at the top of that newcomer list.
The now Nashville-based Corbin's a true standout when it comes to new artists who -- like "King George"-- are steadfastly devoted to keeping the "country" in the country genre, and his sophomore disc, "All Over The Road," is a much-welcomed addition to the commercial-country soundscape that's beyond overrun with rock-infused country.
Released in September 2012, the 11-tune "All Over The Road" disc already has one hit to its credit, the top-five "Lovin' You Is Fun," and the album's second single and title track is slated for official release to country radio Jan. 14.
Penned by tunesmiths Ashley Gorley, Wade Kirby and Carson Chamberlain, "All Over The Road" is "a feel-good song," Corbin shared with Examiner.com in a Dec. 4 email. "It’s one of those songs that on a great day you want to roll down the windows, crank it up and have a good time.”
Country fans first met the Florida-born Corbin, who earned a bachelor's degree in agribusiness prior to becoming a country star, with the 2009 release of his self-titled debut for Mercury. That album gave Corbin a No. 1 single that went gold with its debut single, "A Little More Country Than That," which was co-penned by Rory Feek of Joey & Rory acclaim. Corbin followed that with another No. 1, "Roll With It," and his "I Can't Love You Back" hit.
