Grammy award winning country music star Randy Bruce Travis was arrested and booked into the Denton County jail in Sanger, Texas early Monday morning.
Sanger police told NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth that Randy, who has a ranch in nearby Tioga, was inside his parked vehicle in front of The First Baptist church of Sanger with an open bottle of wine.
The arresting officer noticed the 1998 black Pontiac parked in front of the First Baptist Church of Sanger early Monday morning and, thinking that was unusual, stopped to talk to the driver.
The officer realized that the man in the car was none other than country superstar Randy Travis.
According to the NBC 5 report, the officer also realized there was a strong odor of alcohol was coming from the vehicle and an open wine bottle on the passenger seat. The officer went on to report that the longer they talked, the more slurred Travis' speech became.
Travis was booked into the Denton county jail for about four hours until he had time to sober up. He was then released with a citation for public intoxication.
