Each year there is a unique group of musicians and singer-songwriters that push to earn their way to the top. This year’s elite class is no exception. This year’s group of country music artists to watch in 2013 actually makes a name for themselves by blending multiple genres of music and calling the sound their own. Without further ado, we present to you the 2013 artists to watch.

Blackberry Smoke: Blackberry Smoke has been gaining momentum over the years thanks to Zac Brown believing in their music. Brown signed the band to his Southern Artist music group and has placed them as openers for his tour in the last couple of years. Their unique southern soul blend of rock and country infused with their love of interacting with fans is what sets them apart from other acts. Their live show is featured in the “Live at the Georgia Theatre” dvd that is a must see. Their latest release, “Whipporwill,” showcases some of the best songwriting and instrumentation. Kacey Musgraves: Kacey Musgraves has made a name for herself with the release of “Merry Go Round” in the fall of 2012. Set in small town America, the tune features the dark reality that some face by not leaving town. The former “Nashville Star” contestant has been busy songwriting and keeping to her roots. Miranda Lambert’s latest single, “Mama’s Broken Heart” was written by Musgraves. Kacey Musgraves will be joining Kenny Chesney this summer on his No Shoes Nation concert tour. Drake White: Drake White was featured on the Bluebird Café Singer-Songwriter Stage during the Country Throwdown Tour in 2011. The Alabama native has a unique Americana sound full of grit. Fifth on the Floor: Kentucky natives Fifth on the Floor have been gaining more listeners to their music thanks to a famous country music legend’s son. Shooter Jennings has produced Fifth on the Floor’s latest album, which is set for release in March. Members of the band have been featured in several of Jennings’ latest music videos. Justin Wells vocals hint at the sound of grit with a mix of bourbon. With their strong songwriting and show performances, Fifth on the Floor is one to watch.
