Country Club addition investigation expands

The routine stop of a pickup stolen from the affluent Country Club addition of Wichita Falls, Texas has expanded into a far-reaching investigation which resulted in the arrest of at least 10 people today by the Wichita County Sheriff's Office and the Wichita Falls Police Department.

The Wichita Falls Times and Record News newspaper today ran an article with the names of and photographs of 10 people allegedly involved in varying degrees of illegal activities as a result of the investigation which is ongoing.

What started out as the stopping of a stolen pickup truck in the 1800 block of Monroe at 3:45 a.m. Thursday has morphed into an investigation that has cut a wide swathe across several areas of this city of 105,000 in the last couple of days.

One woman and one man were arrested following the traffic stop while another suspect fled into the darkness. He was later apprehended near the Econo Lodge Motel near the intersection of Seymour Highway and I-44 overpass.

The investigation then moved across town to the 1300 block of Burnett Street where stolen property was found by WCSO deputies in a residence.

The fast-paced investigation then moved to the Circle Inn on Seymour Highway where four more suspects were arrested.

Two cars were seized along with a shotgun and alleged narcotics at the motel.

Several other people were arrested as the investigation continued eventually totalling 10 people who deputies believed were involved in a burglary and drug ring, according to a news release from the WCSO today.

Although it was sheriff's deputies who made the original stop of the stolen pickup in the Floral Heights addition, officers from the Wichita Falls Police Department have been active in a parallel investigation involving burglaries in the Country Club Addition.

Both agencies co-operated well in the investigation and apprehension of people allegedly involved in the burglary and drug ring.

Suspects arrested thus far by law enforcement include John Crowe, 32, engaging in organized criminal activity-theft over $1500, under $20,000, engaging in organized criminal activity-burglary of a motor vehicle and Jason Martin, 33, engaging in organized criminal activity-burglary of a habitation.

Other suspects arrested during the roundup included Jimmy Griffin, 28; Jason Shelton, 34; Christina Foshee, 23; Lindsey Cook, 29; Jay Miller, 48; Juanita Springmeyer, 28 and Mark Brock.

Those with further information regarding the burglary ring may contact either Wichita Falls Police Department or Wichita County Sheriff's Office.
