Countermand from 'Journey Into Nyx'

Countermand is one of several new blue spells from Wizards of the Coast's expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set "Journey Into Nyx."

Countermand - 2UU
Instant (Common)
Counter target spell. Its controller puts the top four cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
The physical pain was nothing compared to the agony in his mind.

Ah, the four mana Counterspell variant. Luckily you'll get a benefit for the extra cost, however it won't allow you to be tricky like Rewind will. Countermand is best abused in deck attempting to mill an opponent. That means you'll want it in the same company as Jace's Mindseeker, Consuming Aberration, Jace, Memory Adept, and Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker.

It's important to note that while you're trying to deck out your rival you might actually be doing them more help than harm. Like providing fuel for their Pharika, God of Affliction, pumping Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, or providing targets for Ritual of the Return, Rescue from the Underworld, Whip of Erebos, or Obzedat's Aid.

Countermand is certainly no Cryptic Command, however that won't stop it from finding its way into many decks - perhaps even yours.

How will you use Countermand?
