Mohegan Sun, Hotel
Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut is apparently not immune to crime as on Thursday State police arrested a couple from Brooklyn, NY for allegedly passing counterfeit fifty-dollar bills while playing Blackjack.
The Mohegan Sun casino, created in 1996 by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut has some great employees as one of their Blackjack dealers first became suspicious of the odd feel of two fifty-dollar bills as they were exchanged for chips.
The suspects Jaime M. Cote, 29, and Bradley A. Wood, 25, of 169 Tripp Hollow Road in Brooklyn N.Y., were arrested and charged with fifth-degree larceny, first-degree forgery and attempted fifth-degree larceny.
Wood tried to pass the bills while buying into a game, according to a warrant filed by detectives from the state police casino gaming unit. Casino surveillance showed the couple played at the same table where four more of the bogus bills were discovered.
The couple was arraigned in Norwich Superior Court on Thursday; the two were released without bond and are scheduled to return to court on Jan. 28 to learn their fate.
