The story broke out in August about Camp Bow Wow going extreme with a new project for animal shelters. No one ever thinks about the shelters, except for Camp Bow Wow and their Bow Wow Buddies Foundation. This extreme program is called “On Our Way Home Project”. They will be offering FREE consulting to shelters, operational counsel, marketing guidance, real estate and construction assistance for remodels and new construction. With this makeover the shelter can focus on the real issue at hand - socialization. Without socialization of the dogs they don’t get adopted. “I am so thrilled with the excitement that this program has brought to our franchise system and look forward to our corporate team and local franchisee’s working to help increase each group’s live release rate statistics,” says Heidi Ganahl, CEO and Founder of Camp Bow Wow, in a recent press release.
The latest news from Camp Bow Wow is that all the submissions are in. They are now going through them all to make their selection. This is not an east task as they received eighty-five nominations and thirty-two applications from eighteen states. Out of the eighteen states the majority are in Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. When the selection is done, one lucky shelter will receive a grant of $50,000 on December 10, 2010. It has all come down to December 10th for each of these 117 shelters. It does not stop there, starting in 2011one shelter per quarter will receive operational assistance. Each of the applicants will also be contacted to start their initial consulting plans starting in the beginning of 2011. Megan Allen, Executive Director of the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation said in a recent press release, ”As we have passed the first part of this process, it is becoming clear that the shelter and rescue groups in the United States need help to care for unwanted animals and we cannot wait to begin the process of helping to save even more lives.”
