Countdown to the 2009 World Series of Poker final table: 10 days out

A brief look at the continuing success of the “November Nine”
With the final table reconvening in a mere 10 days, here are a few updates on the members of the “November Nine”.
Quite a lot has taken place since the “November Nine” sealed up their chips on July 15th: Steve Begleiter, Kevin Schaffel, and James Akenhead have all found their way to final tables at major tournaments, which has increased the anticipation for the upcoming final table even further –Need I remind you that a player by the name of Phil Ivey will be in attendance—and gives the WSOP and ESPN a fallback if Ivey is eliminated early on.
Schaffel has won just under $500k in prize money since July, most notably his 2nd place finish at the 2009 Legends of Poker Tournament. Schaffel followed up this impressive showing with a 19th place finish at the EPT London event. Schaffel has his work cut out for him at the final table where he has a mere 6% of the chips in play.
The short-stack at the WSOP final table will be Akenhead, but don’t count him out! Akenhead is a solid player who managed a 9th place finish at the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe in September.
Begleiter joined Schaffel at the Legends of Poker final table, but was eliminated in 9th place. The former Bear-Stearns exec is sitting in 3rd place in chips, but well behind the monster chip stack of Darvin Moon.
