Ten years have passed since that tragic day.
The new millennium became scared early in a brutal, bloody way.
Some ran to the ruble to rescue.
Some ran away from it too.
Some just gathered loved ones.
And prayed there was no more to come.
Some cried out for vengeance.
Some volunteered to take this chance.
Others gathered to pray while sniffers screened our mail.
Many were sent to die far from here so our way of life prevailed.
Ten years have passed but we remain.
Untouched by more attacks of such acclaim.
We remain protected yet we still complain,
About a lack of jobs, entitlements, and the economy’s pain.
And too often forget those who died,
At ground zero or near Ghazni.
And those who remain have forgotten to live,
In the grace of those who gave all they had to give.
Count your blessings!
