Councilman John Williams Proposes $200.000 Pay Raise for Mobile’s Mayor Position

Councilman John Williams is asking the mobile city council for the approval of a salary increase for the Mayor’s office from $89.000 to $200.000 yearly.

Councilman John Williams reason behind his proposal is to attract a higher qualified candidate for the mayor’s office.

The proposed pay raise for the mayor’s position to the sum of $200.000 would not take effect until after the mayoral election in October 2013 and a new mayor has taken office.

The question that the other council members should be asking Councilman John Williams is, are you crazy especially sense none of the city’s departments including the firefighters and police has had not had a raise in over 6 years.

If this proposed pay raise for the Mayor’s office is approved by the Mobile city council board, city employees would consider this to be a slap in their face and a kick in the butt.

Councilman John Williams also mentioned the multimillion dollar deficit in his statement to the media.

What happened to a balanced budget that was voted on and published on the website below and was also published in the Mobile Press Register newspaper on Wednesday October 10, 2012. .

How to reduce the multimillion dollar deficit are issues that Councilman John Williams and the other 5 city council members need to address instead of increasing the multimillion dollar deficit by approving a $200.000 yearly pay raise for the Mayor’s office.
