Town of Tonawanda Councilman Daniel J. Crangle has been charged with Stalking in the 3rd Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree and the victim is his wife, WIVB News 4 reported on Saturday, Feb. 16.
According to Town of Tonawanda police, Crangle, made a threat towards his wife and she called the police at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. An order of protection was issued for Daniel Crangle’s wife.
Crangle has already been arraigned and released on his own recognizance by Judge Scott Reardon from the Village of Kenmore. Crangle told Lou Raguse from WIVB News 4 that the incident was a "misunderstanding between he and his wife."
This is not the first time Councilman Crangle has been in trouble with the law. In November 2012 The Tonawanda News reported that neighbors called 911 to report a disturbance at the Crangle home.
Crangle’s estranged wife told Town of Tonawanda police that he shoved her to the ground and stole her purse during a domestic dispute. Mrs. Crangle declined to press charges at the time and her belongings were returned to her. Daniel Crangle was not arrested at that time.
The police report stated, “The woman reports that when she arrived at her home, her estranged husband [Crangle] was waiting for her. She hopes police interaction will change his behavior.”
Because no charges were filed in the first incident, Crangle’s name was blacked out of the report. The Tonawanda News, operating on an anonymous tip quoting the police report number, asked the Town of Tonawanda police department to verify the information.
At the time of the domestic incident in November 2012, Daniel Crangle declined to comment, as did fellow board member Joseph Emminger.
