Two members of the Liverpool City Council said Monday night that a move to have streets in the city named after former Beatles Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe has their backing and is a top priority.
According to David Bedford, author of the book "Liddypool," Culture and Tourism Councillor Wendy Simon and Councillor Malcolm Kennedy, a self-professed Beatles fan Bedford says, met with a local group Monday led by campaign organiser Gene Grimes. Kennedy said that the naming of a Liverpool street after Pete Best was guaranteed, and that he was also at the top of the list, too. Kennedy added that it would be a street with prestige and importance within Liverpool. He added there would also be greater recognition for Stuart Sutcliffe as an artist and member of the Beatles as well.

I hope the street named after Stu will be near Gambier Terrace and the art school. Maybe Pete's street will be right in Hayman's Green.
