Disney in partnership with HSN and IMAX realtors are introducing a unique and unusual way to experience the magic of Disney's upcoming movie "Oz the Great and Powerful" and this promotion takes to the skies and maybe even a city near you.
The memorable hot air balloon of "Oz" will be starting a tour across the country on Feb. 13, 2013 in celebration of the premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Other stops include Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. (February 17), Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. (February 20), and Central Park in New York City (March 5 & 6).
Don't see Houston on that list? Not yet we don't, but Houston could make their own magic happen and create a family friendly event that would light up the sky and our child's eyes. On February 15, the “Journey to Oz Balloon Tour” app will go live on the official Facebook page for the film (facebook.com/OzTheGreatAndPowerful). Starting then, fans will have the opportunity to unlock screenings in cities near them. Users will vote by Tweeting with a custom hashtag for their city (e.g. #DisneyOzHouston) or by sharing on Facebook.
“Oz The Great and Powerful,” is directed by Sam Raimi, bringing to the big screen the loveable character we only see moments of in "The Wizard of Oz." A small time circus magician, (James Franco as Oscar Diggs), who has less than a sterling character find himself "not in Kansas anymore" he's off to find fame and fortune. But when three witches are convinced of that he is the great and powerful Oz , Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), he must find a way to prove himself and maybe even learn something along the way as he tries to save the day in the land of Oz.
"Oz the Great and Powerful" appears in theaters March 8, 2013.
