The Chicago paranormal haunted location that at times has story creation hype that would make the author Mary Shelley of Frankenstein fame envious.
Even written in the newspaper The Orland Park Prairie Newspaper on October 7th, 2007: Mr. Brad Bettenhausen, president of the Tinley Park Historical Society, said there are three common stories told about the cemetery: the disappearing house, the escaped mental patient with a hook and the story of the boyfriend hanging from a tree above his girlfriend's car. Bettenhausen added that the stories are fabrications, and that he has never witnessed anything supernatural in Bachelor's Grove.
Let's get to the historical known facts and then the paranormal possibilities of why Mrs. Senator Humphrey may be the Madonna of Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. You will also come across many photos in this article as I have included a slideshow of images and also an un-cut video I shot in 2003 of Bachelor's Grove Cemetery for the cable show I had back then.
The Home of Senator John Humphery and built for him in 1881. It remained in the family until willed to the Historical Society.
At first unknown to the public as a haunted location, it was one that I was pulled to. I walked up the stairs and knocked on the door, as I felt drawn to the home, a location found to be haunted.
The Orland Park Historical Society tour guides tell of the fact that one of the first children that Mr. Humphrey and the first Mrs. Humphrey had died at birth.
Mrs. Humphrey's family (Patrick), had a family plot and family buried at Bachelor's Grove Cemetery and Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey had the child buried with Mrs. Humphrey's (Patrick), family members at Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. The Patrick Headstone still remains at Bachelor's Grove Cemetery.
The question that is asked by some of the officials of the Orland Park Historical Society is if the first Mrs. Humphrey who was found dead in the house in March of 1898 and buried at a different cemetery in Orland Park then the one of her first child who died and is buried at Bachelor's Grove Cemetery, could she Mrs. Humphrey be the woman and child seen at Bachelor's Grove, the Madonna of Bachelor's Grove Cemetery?
I have wandered in to Bachelor's Grove Cemetery since 1976 and even some of the photos here are from 2003. I find it interesting that I was also drawn to the Senator John Humphrey House around 2006.
I believe Dale Kaczmarek may be the only other known living Chicago paranormal individual that has images older (that he personally shot). Besides the late Mr. Richard Crowe, Dale has a long time paranormal history with the location that dates back to around the time I was wandering around it and I believe he was actually earlier as he is older then me (with all due respect Dale). Mr. Crowe, Dale and my self are actually from and have lived our whole life within 5 to 15 minutes of the S.W. Suburbs haunted locations, so it has always been a part of us and us part of it.
Bachelor's Grove Cemetery was the location of my first paranormal experience at a haunted location in 1976 when one could drive their car back there, it happened at night near the lagoon back in those days one could venture in to the location at night.
