If not an addiction, what would cause a seemingly normal person to eat themselves to 300, 400, or even 800 pounds? What would cause them to eat up to 10,000 calories more than they needed in a day? What would cause them to hide food from their families, so no one knows the extent of their condition?
If not an addiction why is it common for someone to lose weight, and go back to eating poorly, thus gaining weight again? That mimics a relapse just as a drug addict may have. Food for some is a comfort. They get upset, cookies to the rescue. A boyfriend breaks up with you, spend the week in bed with food, take out, and cry. When will people realize that food is to nourish, not to enjoy to the point of obesity?
If food addiction is not real, why is up to 40% of American’s obese, and up to 20% are morbidly obese? Binge Disorder and food addiction is a real concern for many people, raising awareness will finally help find the cure to all eating disorders, making America finally rid of the obesity epidemic.
