There is a lot of buzz around wearable technology recently and though many are not completely sold on their everyday use, perhaps we are not looking at the right demographic. There are a couple out there now generating the most talk, most notably those from Pebble, Sony and Samsung. Each watch has it's own positives and negatives but are all capable of a lot of the same functions. Imagine the following scenarios...
Halo: Vibration notification on weapon spawns/drops, time remaining alerts etc.
Call of Duty: Vibration notifications for last alive, scorestreak obtained.
- Read messages from friends on watch instead of booting up a separate menu to read like the XBL dashboard
- Vibrate for every game invite you get - perfect for those away from their console
- Notifications while watching TV on new X1, and turned off notifications. (discrete updates)
These are a couple of quick examples that could work for the current and next gen consoles as well as a couple examples in popular shooters. With the introduction of tablets and other peripheral devices on next gen consoles, could watches also be used as a neat tool for the everyday gamer? Could the PS4 and the Xbox One use this technology? Would you be more inclined to use a Smart Watch if you could use them with your next gen console?
Of course there are many uses for other games so what other examples could you come up with?
