Could NeNe Leakes be working deal to be a part-time Housewife with Bravo's RHOA?

Was attending an NBC function recently a sign that things are okay between NeNe Leakes and BravoTV?

NeNe Leakes set off a flurry of rumors that she was no longer a ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ cast member with a tweet recently, and has done little to stave off the storm of questions that followed. Could it be that she really is contemplating a break? Or is it simply that the old adage from the entertainment industry is true: Any publicity is good publicity.

Leakes attended the 2014 NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Upfronts at The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on May 15, 2014 in New York City. She was looking happy and glam, leading many to believe that she must be planning a return to her Bravo-hosted show, RHOA (Bravo is a program service of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment, a division of NBC Universal). And, in fact, Sister 2 Sister indicated Leakes recently did tell Rob Shuter: “I will still work for Bravo. I’m happy to stay on. We just need to work out some things.” However, she continued, saying, “I’m happy to do some things. I don’t know if I’m happy to be a full-time Housewife.”

Leakes’ views of RHOA have become a point of contention, apparently, at least according to fellow Housewife Porsha Williams, who told radio show host Rickey Smiley, “She has a problem with where the whole show is going. Last season was really dark. She said that she feels like it’s changed.” But, what exactly is “dark” for RHOA? Considering the entire empire was built and expanded on contention, fighting and out-and-out drama, it is hard to imagine just what has changed. But, perhaps Leakes feels that the show has taken a more negative turn over the seasons. Or could Leakes actually have become a diva, as some have suggested, and just be positioning herself for a better contract, better salary? It is hard to say for certain, given the lack of info on the subject that is out there at the moment. However, Leakes did describe her dislike of the negative work environment to Shuter, specifically stating that it was not for her. “When I wake up every morning and I go off to be negative, it feels like it spills over into my regular life. You become what you work with.”

Perhaps Leakes just wants to be someone different than when she first hit reality TV gold with the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta.’ Then again, maybe the reality star has grown personally and professionally since beginning the show, and IS someone different than she was then. Only Leakes really knows the answer to that question for sure—but she is definitely still a fan favorite.

While the show would no doubt go on, RHOA would definitely feel a hit if Leakes chooses/has already chosen/has been forced—to end her run on the show. But, then again, all may not be lost for Bravo: What about a NeNe spin-off? Fans flocked to the Bravo special, “I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding,” and more recently NeNe teamed up with Patti Stanger on a well-received season finale of THE MILLIONAIRE MATCHMAKER. And, as for Leakes outside of Bravo, she is scheduled to appear in a Cirque du Soleil performance of “Zumanity” this summer; the LA Times indicated that limited engagement runs June 27- July 1.
