The two big rumors of the day are that the iPod Touch is getting a camera, and the next iPhone getting a micro video projector. TechCrunch is reporting on a huge order of cameras placed by Apple. And these inexpensive cameras could be used for the iPod Nano as well as the iPod Touch.
But even more interesting is the prospect of the iPhone getting a miniature video projector, as reported by Apple Insider. According to the report, Foxlink is developing its own micro projector technology that could be ready early next year.
A smartphone capable of showing video on the nearest wall? That'd be neat, but it gets a whole lot cooler when you combine this with the Wearable Gestural Interface to create a "smart projector".
Essentially, this would work by displaying a computer-generated interface on any surface and then using the camera to capture gestures, thus allowing the user to interact with the interface, such as dialing numbers from a keypad projected on the wall. Even cooler, the camera could read in a barcode and then project the best prices of the product, or show a tag cloud of related subjects.
