Overall, it was a great season for the Mount Royal University Cougars in women's volleyball, however the team will probably be a little disappointed with their effort this weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia.
According to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport website, the University of Alberta Pandas defeated the Cougars 35-33, 25-20, 25-23 in the Canada West bronze medal game for women's volleyball on Saturday.
With the win, the Pandas advance to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport National Women's Volleyball Championship from February 28-March 2 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and the University of Trinity Western Spartans are also representing the Canada West Conference after their conference semi-final wins on Thursday.
Despite the loss, it was an outstanding year for the Cougars, who qualified for their first Canada West final four in women's volleyball. Mount Royal University only became a university in 2009 after being a college in 1931.
