According to the Canada West website, the Mount Royal University Cougars defeated the University of British Columbia-Okanagan Heat 25-21, 22-25, 15-25, 25-21, 15-13 in five grueling sets Thursday night in Kelowna, British Columbia for game one of the Canada West women's volleyball quarterfinal.
Outside hitter Olivia Grecu led the Cougars with 18 kills, while Fallon Middlemiss led the Cougars with 15 digs.
The news wasn't as good for the Dinos. According to www.godinos.com, the University of Trinity Western Spartans defeated the University of Calgary Dinos 25-17, 25-20, 27-25 Thursday night in Langley, British Columbia in game one of their Canada West women's volleyball quarterfinal.
Amy Ott of East Selkirk, Manitoba and Alicia Perrin of Creston, British Columbia led the Spartans with 12 kills each. Spartans libero Kristen Moncks of Standard, Alberta recorded a game high 13 digs.
Game two of each best out of three series goes Friday, with the third and deciding game scheduled for Saturday if necessary.
