After entering the Christmas and New Year’s break at one game below .500 (6-7 overall, 1-4 in RMAC play), the Colorado Christian University Cougars began 2013 with five straight losses. CCU has a 2-8 January record heading into Friday’s home matchup with Western State Colorado University on the Lakewood campus. Overall, the Cougars are 8-13 on the season and 3-10 in conference play.
CCU has been led in individual scoring by Kyle Weaver, Michael Brown and Josh McBeth with 11.8, 11 and 7 points per game respectively. Joey Trinkle, McBeth and Lance Vesper lead the rebounding totals per game with 4.5, 4.2 and 3.9 each. Three point shooting percentages start with McBeth’s 37% followed by Avery Redmond at 36%, Weaver at 35% and Brown at 33%. Weaver and Brown lead in free throw percentages with 86% and 83%.
The February 1st game with the Mountaineers of WSCU tips off at 8pm at the CCU Events Center on Colorado Christian University campus. Saturday, the Cougars host Colorado Mesa University at 7pm at the CCU Events center.
