Several companies in the private sector have stepped up to fill the voids created by the nationwide government shutdown that went into effect October 1.

Military bases across the U. S., across all branches, have closed commissaries and post exchanges leaving military personal without access to their own “big box” shopping outlets.

Today, the “biggest of the big box” stores opened their doors to anyone with military ID, even if they are not current Costco members. In fact, most Costco stores had tables set up near their entrances to specifically assist and welcome service members.

Earlier in the week, the largest home and auto insurer, and mortgage lender, for military personnel, U.S.A.A., declared they would offer zero-interest loans to military members whose pay might be disrupted by the government shutdown.

There is no doubt that other retailers and agencies will step up and do the right thing for those who have signed on to defend our nation.
