Costa Rica wins the Copa Centroamericana 2013

The Costa Rica national soccer team defeated Honduras on Sunday in the Copa Centroamericana 2013. The final score was 1-0, and the tournament now has a new Champion in the Central American region.

As reported by Telesurtv.net, the goal came at the 36th minute of play. The goal was scored by Geancarlo Gonzalez, who plays for club team Valerenga in the Norwegian soccer league. The goal was the only goal of the game which gave the host country the victory and the title.

Costa Rican player Jairo Arrieta, who plays in the MLS for the Columbus Crew, was the player with the most goals in the tournament. Arrieta had a total of two goals.

El Salvador defeated Belize on the same day for third place. El Salvador won the match, which was played earlier in the day, with an outcome of 1-0.

Costa Rica has now won the tournament seven times since the inauguration in 1991. It is in the lead with Honduras following in second place with three titles.
