During a break from sound check for Kiss Fm’s Wango Tango, Cosmo, one fourth of pop group My Crazy Girlfriend talked to Examiner.com about her groups debut album, writing on the road, and touring with Little Mix.
If you haven’t heard of My Crazy Girlfriend, it’s only a matter of time. The foursome is made up of twin brothers: Bennett and Justyn Armstrong, Mayah Marie, and Cosmo. Before joining forces, all four artists were busy making a name for themselves individually in the music industry: producing, singing back up, and even co-penning a song for Britney Spears. After forming a power group, they garnered the attention of Capital Records where they were eventually signed. Their sound is reminiscent of The Black Eyed Peas or Cher Lloyd, with hooks that are sure to be stuck in your head.
My Crazy Girlfriend’s debut single Go F*ck Yourself has already gone number one on the Billboard Dance charts. And, their current single Crazy Stupid Love is starting to rack up spins on Top 40, which is the result of a month long radio tour. Cosmo said, “It was cool to see each station we went to more and more people showing up cause as we are new, not as many people are there at the beginning. But, as we continued … so many more people were showing up, people knew the song, [and were] singing it along with us!”
With only two songs available for download, My Crazy Girlfriend is working hard to release their debut album. Cosmo says that during down time on the road they’ve been, ”Knocking out some hooks and kind of setting up some songs for when we get the free time when we get home to get in the studio to actually lay it down.”
And, it looks like they're going to be doing more writing on the road, the band was just announced as a supporting act for Little Mix’s first headlining tour. For Cosmo, this was a dream come true, “One of our biggest goals was, we were like ‘before the year ends we have to go on a tour whether it’s opening- we don’t care who it’s for’…and then to be with somebody like Little Mix, who’s very established and has such a huge fan base, we’re so honored and humbled to be able to be doing this. It’s gonna be crazy fun!”
