Clevelanders who enjoy Appalachian music with the sound of dulcimers, banjos, guitars and fiddles are in for a real treat if they venture the 2.5 hour drive from Cleveland to Coshocton, Ohio for the 40th annual Dulcimer Days Festival running from Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15.

Coshocton Dulcimer Days Festival One of the longest running heritage music festivals in Ohio, the Coshocton Dulcimer Days Festival is also the second oldest event of its kind in the United States. The Festival is filled with live music concerts featuring traditional Appalachian music and will also feature the Mid-East Regional Dulcimer Championships and the Hammered Dulcimer Championships.

Coshocton will play host to the festivities at historic Roscoe Village, a restored canal town from the 1800's.

Admission to the Dulcimer Days Festival is free but visitors can also participate in several music workshops for a fee of $15 each. The workshops include classes on the mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltery and the Native American flute.

The workshops will be held in the classrooms at COTC (Central Ohio Technical College) within Roscoe Village.

The Festival is about music, music, music. You don't want to miss the jam sessions being held throughout the Village all weekend. There will also be a Gospel Sing on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Warehouse Restaurant dining room in the center of Roscoe Village.

Headliner dulcimer performers at the Coshocton Dulcimer Days Festival will be Stephen Seifert and Cathy Barton with Dave Para. The concert will be held at the Roscoe United Methodist Church on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Mini concerts by past winners of the Mid East/Regional competitions will be given on Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Food will be available for purchase at the Warehouse Restaurant. On Saturday, visitors can purchase a lunch special consisting of hamburgers, brats, baked beans, cole slaw, chips and iced tea or coffee for $12 (tax and gratuity included). The Warehouse will also offer a Sunday brunch for $12 (tax and tip included).
