Cory Monteith found dead – ‘Glee’ fans mourn on social media football jock Finn Hudson was found dead in his Pacific Rim Hotel room Saturday July 13, 2013 by hotel staff after he didn't check out when expected. He was alone when he died. Monteith was just 31 years old.
Celebrities and fans have taken to social media with an outpouring of love and support for his family.
On Facebook the producers of “Glee” made this statement:
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
As of 8:43 a.m. over 20,000 fans have left R.I.P. notes including plea’s for a Cory Monteith memorial show like this one:
One episode. Just have one episode dedicated to him. An episode with all of his goofy outtakes and scenes. An episode where everyone says how they felt about him and everything. A dedicated remembrance. Something to give everyone just a little bit of closure. GLEE Facebook page
Co-Star Dot Marie Jones tweeted:
“I have no words! My heart is broken. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever.
“I am blessed to have worked with him and love him so much! My heart is with his family and our whole Glee family! I love you all!”

"How sad to read about Cory Monteith passing away. What a shame. He was a lovely, kind, talented guy and will be missed."
Cory Monteith has played football jock Finn Hudson since the first episode of “Glee” in 2009 and won the Teen Choice award for favorite male actor in a comedy series. The show also won a Screen Actors Guild award for Best Comedy.
Monteith has struggled with drug addiction and began using drugs at age 13 and has been in rehab a few times. The cause of death is unknown at this time but foul play has been ruled out. The “Glee” star has struggled with substance abuse but was supported by his off screen and on-screen girlfriend Lea Michelle as well as his friends and family.
This picture supposedly of a mourning Lea Michelle and Cory in a coffin covered with an American flag is a fake. Cory is Canadian and that isn’t Lea. The picture is believed to be a US Soldier and his mourning wife.
