Cory Monteith checks into rehab: ‘Glee’ star battles substance addiction (Photos)

Cory Monteith has checked into rehab, according to a report from E! Online on March 31. The “Glee” star is battling substance addiction and is getting treatment at an undisclosed facility. Monteith has admitted to having substance abuse problems in the past.

Cory Monteith is currently in rehab, but his representative has been quick to add that he “voluntarily admitted himself into a treatment facility for substance addiction” and was not forced into treatment. The 30-year-old “Glee” star seems to have the full support of his girlfriend Lea Michele. She posted on her official Twitter account, “Feeling so grateful today[.]” E! Online also reports that Lea has stated, “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this.”

Monteith has talked about his substance abuse problems in the past. In an interview with Parade, he mentioned that he had serious problems with addiction and was fortunate to be alive. The 30-year-old actor admitted to dropping out of school, drinking heavily and doing drugs. Cory has stated that he experimented with a variety of substances growing up.

Cory’s first time in rehab was at the age of 19 after his family did an intervention. Despite relapsing since that time, Monteith had made progress and was proud of his accomplishments. Now, he is back in treatment fighting substance addiction, but in this case he realized he had a problem and voluntarily asked for help.
