While Cory Barlog might not be a household name amongst most gamers, the gaming public in genreal probably recognizes his most gamous game, God of War II. The former Sony Santa Monica director left his post in the lead up to God of War III and spent some time in Australia as a consultant for George Miller and a rumored Mad Max game. Whatever became of that hiatus has yet to surface. But in the meantime, Barlog is now back in the USA as the latest hire of the San Francisco office of Crystal Dynamics. Crystal Dynamis is best known right now as the current stewards of the Tomb Raider franchise, with a new origin story/reboot scheduled for release in the 3rd quarter of this year.
From the article:
"Crystal has pulled together some of the best teams in the industry to deliver against upcoming projects and future IP," said Darrell Gallagher, head of studio. “Cory's heritage in building industry defining action adventure titles, together with our focus on delivering quality character driven blockbuster entertainment makes Cory a tremendously exciting addition to the team."
Cory Barlog is working on a Tomb Raider game--although whether it's the new title currently slated for release this year is unknown--as well an additional, as yet unannounced project.
