The Jumping and Whoops clinic, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 15th, has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 8th, because of Round 2 of the Point Series scheduled for the week-end of the 15th and 16th.
The clinic schedule with Supercross Pro Brad O’Neal is
Saturday, May 8, Jumping and Whoops;
Saturday, June 12th, Concrete and Dirt
Saturday, July 3rd, Maintaining Momentum Line Choice.
All clinics are 2 hours, from 10 am to noon.
O’Neal first presents the ideas to the group as a whole, followed by riding and individual instruction. The clinic is open to riders of all ages, although when young children participate, riders are divided into older and younger groups. To ensure excellent instruction for all, class size is limited to 10; O’Neal will run back-to-back classes when there is a large number of participants.
Techniques learned in the May and June sessions, Jumping and Whoops, and Concrete and Dirt, will figure prominently in the July clinic, Maintaining Momentum Line Choice. One of the essential techniques that all motocross riders should learn early is to look ahead, rather than down at the current location. This perspective affords more time for technique choice. Riders should also familiarize themselves with the course ahead of time so they know when and how to turn in the air while jumping to prepare for the next piece of ground, whether it be a turn or a straightaway. Whoops can be challenging, and O’Neal will present the different techniques that can be used to maximize speed and minimize impact.
Because of the close relationship of techniques in these three clinics, riders are encouraged to register for all three to achieve optimum benefit, although riders may also participate in a single clinic if they need spot assistance. Riders may register at FMX la Frontera Motocross Park at 5461 O’Leary Road in El Paso, by calling (575) 635-1398, and soon, on the web at http://fmxlafrontera.com. Discounts on memberships are available for military and law-enforcement personnel. El Rancho Escondido offers a 10% discount on all meals (sorry, alcohol not included) to clientele presenting FMX la Frontera wrist bands.
