US Sailing is organizing the U.S. Youth Sailing Championship which this year will be held August 12 – 16 at Corpus Christi Yacht club. This is a qualifying event for the 2014 ISAF Youth World Championship.
This is an invitation only event where sailors had to submit resume and be selected. The races have expanded to the following boats. Clicking on the boat will show you the names of the competitors selected to compete.
Malinda Crain, Chair, US Sailing’s Youth Championship Committee said “Corpus Christi Yacht Club will provide a fantastic venue to showcase the talents of America’s best youth sailors."
The first race is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 and the awards will take place Friday 16th as soon as possible after the last race.
Former winners include such stars in the sailing world as Olympian Andrew Campbell (2000, 2001, 2002) Rolex Yachtsman of the Year Bill Hardesty (1992,1993, 1994), and Olympic silver and bronze medalist Charlie McKee (1981) who is now US Sailing’s High Performance Director.
The 2013 U.S. Youth Championship is sponsored by Gill NA, Sperry Top-Sider and Zim Sailing.
