Coroner: Casey Johnson’s cause of death as diabetic ketoacidosis was released Thursday. Casey Johnson's cause of death was diabetes related, the Los Angeles County Coroner stated the cause of death as Diabetic Ketoacidosis, and that the manner of death was natural, according to the Associated Press.
Diabetic ketoacidosis is caused by a lack of insulin and high blood sugar. The Coroner's findings also showed that Johnson did not take her insulin shots, was not exercising, wasn’t following her diet, nor was she taking her prescription medications.
Johnson’s body was found January 4, 2010 in her Los Angeles home and policed believed that she may have been dead for a few days before that. Johnson was diabetic and there were suspicions that her death was related to diabetes.
Casey Johnson had become estranged from her family over the past few months. Her mother had taken her adopted daughter. And Johnson was facing criminal charges for breaking into the home of a friend in October. Her family had cut her off, and she was having difficulty paying her bills, her car had been repossessed, and her electricity had recently been shut off.
