According to the Canadian Press, Jon Cornish recorded a career high with 208 yards rushing in one game on Saturday as the Calgary Stampeders hammered the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 38-11 at McMahon Stadium.
Cornish ran past the Blue Bombers defensive line with ease, as he found gaping holes on a constant basis down the sidelines. Cornish now has 1415 rushing yards this season and has passed Kory Sheets of the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the rushing yards lead in the Canadian Football League. Sheets currently has 1302 yards.
It has been quite the week for Cornish. On Tuesday he was named the top Canadian for the month of September, while Stampeders' kicker, Rene Paredes was named the top special teams player.
The Stampeders won on Saturday despite the fact that defensive back Keon Raymond missed the game because of a hamstring strain.
The Stampeders move to 11-3 with the win, and are four points up on the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the British Columbia Lions in the Western Division. The Stampeders next play the Lions Friday night at McMahon Stadium.
