Cornish, of New Westminster, British Columbia, had 131 yards on 14 carries and another six receptions for 46 yards receiving in Calgary's 22-12 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos in the Labour Day rematch at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on Friday night. Cornish led the Stampeders in rushing and receiving yards.
With the victory, Calgary improved to 8-2 on the season, and with the win Calgary moved into a first place tie with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who were upset 25-13 by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday.
Former Stampeder Henry Burris of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats was the top offensive player of the week. Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back Demond Washington was the top defensive player and Blue Bombers running back Will Ford was the stop special teams player.
