The recent Cornell hazing resulted in the suspension of the lacrosse team for the entire fall season. The Cornell hazing was taken very seriously by the University. The details of this hazing have just been released, according to Fox News on Sept. 23.
The underclassmen were made to chug beer to the point of vomiting for some of the students. This was done at a party as part of a competition where the freshman were made to stand in a circle and chug beer until multiple students vomited. Besides the freshmen, other students joined this event called the “key race.”
The hazing also included the freshmen being made to perform menial tasks for the upperclassmen, along with other duties. Cornell is not a mediocre lacrosse team, they went 14-4 last spring, but lost to Duke in the national semifinals. This suspension for the entire fall season is bound to hang heavy as an embarrassment over this university, not to mention the players of the Cornell lacrosse team.
