The Cortland Line Company has been profiled here before. Though it's a little bit of a drive up 81 from Binghamton, the factory store is a great place to buy quality Cortland Line products, often times at a discount. Under new corporate management, Cortland has been hard at work on improving not only their products, but also their factory store.
The factory store is run by Richard Andrews. And Richard has been hard at work improving the store since I first visited it. Recent improvements include bigger display areas - one corner is designed to look a lot like a log cabin - as well as a broader product offering. The quantity of flies for sale is impressive and includes everything from standard dry fly patterns, nymphs, terrestrials, wet flies, and even big game streamers. The fly tying corner of the store has also been updated. Lastly, the number of rods, reels, and Cortland fly lines is right up there with many of the big box retailers such as Bass Pro, Orvis, and Cabelas.
The factory store will be holding its annual fall sale from September 21 - 29. The store is normally closed on Sundays and Mondays, but that won't be the case during this sale: the store will be open every day during that period from 9 am to 5 pm. Among the many items that will be marked down are:
- Fly lines - up to 40% off.
- Leaders and tippet - up to 50% off.
- $20 off fly fishing outfits.
- Additional sales and deals...
Now is the time to gear up for fall fly fishing! Fall is arguably the best time of the year for fly fishing and the Cortland Line Company factory store sale is a great event to help an angler prepare. Additionally, anyone visiting the store during the sale is eligible to enter for a chance to win $500 (retail) of free product! Just think how that could help any angler stock up for fall fly fishing.
