Corey Stoll's 'Ant-Man' role revealed

Edgar Wright’s exit from ‘Ant-Man’ left a sour taste in fans’ mouth, but some good news regarding “House of Cards” actor Corey Stoll’s character.

At Marvel’s presentation today at San Diego Comic-Con’s holy Hall H, it was revealed Stoll is set play the film’s antagonist, Darren Cross, Yellow Jacket.

During the presentation the studio also let the roaring crowd in San Diego the identity of Evangeline Lilly ‘s character. “The Hobbit” actress will play Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Michael Douglas’s character, Hank Pym.

The film has no officially kicked off principal photography, however they gave fans a little action-packed teaser that featured a voice over from Douglas and Paul Rudd, who plays the lead character, Scott Lang, in the film.

“Ant-Man” has had a troubled production with original director, Edgar Wright, dropping out due to creative differences with the studio. This obviously prompted a delay and “Yes Man” director Peyton Reed replaced Wright.

The delay combined with some re-writes of the film forced a trio of actors to exit the film, including “The Conjuring’s” Patrick Wilson.

Although there has been a dark cloud over the film due to the abrupt exits from the film, based on fans’ reaction to the panel it seems that they are prepared to forgive Marvel.

“Ant-Man” shrinks into theaters July 17, 2015.
