Corey Haim worked on Andrew Koenig's last project

Corey Haim had a connection with another recently deceased teen idol -- former "Growing Pains" star Andrew Koenig. According to a new story by TMZ, the two actors briefly worked together on a project called "DaZe" in late 2008. Unfortunately, Haim was fired because his suspected drug use "became too much of a problem" for people on-set.

The executive producer of the film, Miller Uwanawich, says that he went to Haim's home a number of times to try and help with the problem -- but it simply wasn't to be. Corey was eventually re-cast in the film, which ended up being the last project Koenig ever participated in.

Andrew Koenig's body was found last month after he disappeared in Vancouver during the Winter Olympics. His case has been ruled a suicide. Meanwhile, it will be a number of weeks before we know for sure what caused Corey Haim to suddenly pass away at his mother's home in Burbank on Wednesday. A possible drug overdose seems like the likely diagnosis, but saying anything beyond that at this point would be merely speculation.

What do you think about this strange coincidence? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and I will have more on the Corey Haim situation as soon as it becomes available.
