Corbin Smith jumps over car

Corvette's have been used for many purposes, but being used for showing Corbin Smith jumping over a car is totally cool. We've probably all heard of the famous Kobe Bryant jump, where he lunged over an Aston Martin at speed. However, this video was fake. The Corbin Smith jump appears to be very real. Corbin takes it to the next level and uses the lines of the road to prove he jumped over the car. When Kobe did the jump, there wasn't any lines to prove legitimacy. So is the following footage real? If the video hasn't been edited with computer generated graphics, it's totally real. By looking at the quality of the video, it's safe to say there wasn't any CGI involved and that Corbin Smith really did jump a Corvette traveling at 60 miles per hour! Before watching the Corbin Smith footage, let's take a look at the fictitious Kobe Bryant video for comparison.

Video content: Kobe Bryant jumps over Aston Martin

Did you see the spoof? The Kobe Bryant video is totally fake and relies on a basic camera trick. Because a camera shoots in a flat, two dimensional type video, one is able to take advantage of this and place objects deeper in the shot to make them look like they are closer. Standing a few inches aside from the traveling Aston Martin, Kobe jumps high enough to appear over the vehicle but without putting himself in danger. That's how the spoof video was done, and since then it has inspired many to attempt the real thing.

The Corbin Smith video of him jumping over a C5 Corvette is very real, and doesn't appear to use any camera tricks because they don't shoot directly from the side, and there is lane lines to prove the path of travel. The only possible way to fake this footage is to use CGI and blend the two scenes together. One scene is a jump with no vehicle, and the other is the vehicle driving by with no jump. Blend the two together, and you have an instant CGI hit. But the chances of this happening are extremely unlikely, and if you watch any other footage of this young superstar you will see he can jump. So what really happened here? I leave the decision up to you. Did Corbin Smith really jump the Corvette? Or is this just some advanced video manipulation used to poke fun at the infamous Kobe Bryant spoof? Post your comments below! I think this is the real thing.

Who is Corbin Smith? Corbin Smith is a 17 year old junior at Verrado High School in Buckeye, Arizona. He plays small forward for the varsity team and was just awarded defensive player of the year. Corbin also enjoys playing the drums, loves fast cars, producing videos, and is a big fan of Kobe Bryant. The future is bright for this talented rising star from Arizona! • Auntie Sandra 2 years ago

I think it's real. Corbin is very gifted when it comes to basketball. Besides he probably practiced jumping along side his dad's Vet, while parked, to make sure he cleared it, before making the real thing happen. Love you Nephew! XO!

Corbin was absolutely amazing in his feat of jumping over a speeding Corvette!!! Keep it up young man; "big brother" IS watching!

  • Marlon 2 years ago

Haha, this is so fake it hurts. The area the vette is coming from is shaking and jittery. The vette has a shadow and the kid doesn't. The kid is in different light than the vette. This is terribley put together but I hand it to the kid for fooling so many gullible people.
