Coram man dies after ATV crash in Medford

A Coram man, who was rushed to the hospital after crashing and being ejected from his all-terrain vehicle on Saturday, has succumbed to his injuries, Suffolk County police said Monday afternoon.

Police said 48-year-old Gregory Jackson of Coram was driving his 2006 Yamaha quad around the parking lot of his automotive repair shop at 37 Cedarhurst Ave. around 12:42 p.m. on Saturday. Investigators believe that at some point, Jackson lost control of the ATV and struck a trailer that was parked in the lot. The impact from the collision ejected Jackson from the seat of the quad, which caused him to strike the pavement, cops said.

Jackson was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center in East Patchogue, where he was listed in critical condition on Saturday. Police said that on Sunday night, Jackson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
