Days after a 20-year-old woman’s body was found outside a mobile home in Jasper, deputies have arrested a second person for allegedly dumping her body there.
Ms. Denise Patterson, 51, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of tampering with evidence, concealing a death, possession of a controlled substance, reckless conduct and improper disposal of a body, according to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Marty Gaddis, 38, was also arrested on similar charges on Thursday, the same day Ms. Taylor Smith’s body was found, Capt. Frank Reynolds said.
And investigators said more arrests may be coming.
Their investigation began when they received a 911 call that someone was having an asthma attack at Robin Road. But when deputies couldn’t find the patient at the address, they began walking around until they found the woman’s body across the street, between a vehicle and trailer, Capt. Reynolds said.
“She had died at another location and a few individuals participated in removing her,” Capt. Reynolds said.
Deputies said Ms. Smith suffered an apparent asthma attack while she was with friends and they dropped her lifeless body off along Robin Road.
Investigators are still waiting on toxicology to see if the Canton woman had any substance in her body.Receive daily news stories and stay current by clicking on the subscribe button at the top of the article and get automatic updates via email each time a new article is published.
