Two Queens women were arrested Wednesday afternoon after they allegedly offered to perform sexual favors on undercover officers in exchange for money at a West Hempstead spa, Nassau County police said in a Thursday news release.
Liru Xia, 43, of 147 Northern Blvd., Flushing and Qili Duan, 27, of 3130 138 St., Flushing, were both charged with unauthorized practice of a profession and prostitution after Nassau County Police Vice Bureau officers went undercover as interested patrons. Cops said the two women were working at the Royal Day Spa at 300 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead and “did practice massage therapy without a license.”
Cops say the undercover operation went down around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday and while inside the spa, the women “offered to engage in a sexual act for an undisclosed amount of money.” Police noted that the two women were taken into custody without incident.
Both suspects were held overnight in police custody and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
UPDATE [10:49 p.m.]: Qili Duan and Liru Xia were arraigned at District Court in Hempstead earlier today. Both women were released without bail, but a judge ordered the women to undergo a medical exam for venereal disease, court records show. They are due back in court on Jan. 9.
