Gaetano Delia, 53, of 31 Ash Drive, was arraigned Oct. 22 at First District Court in Hempstead on a second-degree robbery charge. He was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Police said Delia entered the Bank of America branch at 300 Merrick Road in Lynbrook at 2:50 p.m. on Monday. Inside the bank, he allegedly made verbal demands for cash to several tellers. Cops said he fled the bank after obtaining an unspecified amount of money.
After police officers obtained a description of Delia from bank employees, they began to canvass the neighborhood. He was found at the intersection of Broadway and Stewart Street in Hewlett, where officers took him into custody.
Police said they were able to recover the money.
Delia is due back in court on Thursday.
