A Roswell teen was killed after he was thrown from his vehicle late Tuesday evening in Sandy Springs. And police said the 18-year-old may have been driving at an excessive speed when he was killed.
Mr. Julio C. Becerra-Tapia was pronounced dead at North Fulton Hospital shortly after the single-vehicle wreck, according to the Sandy Springs police.
The incident happened around 8:35 p.m. in the 8100 block of Roswell Road, just south of Pitts Road, police spokesman Capt. Steve Rose said.
According to investigators, Mr. Becerra-Tapia was traveling south on Roswell Road when he lost control and his vehicle left the roadway.
“The vehicle, which appeared to be traveling at excessive speed, struck a tree, ejecting the driver who was the only occupant of the vehicle,” Capt. Rose said.
So far, police have not said how fast the teen may have been driving or what caused him to lose control.
