A security guard shot two men, killing one, as they allegedly attempted to break into a trucking facility late Sunday night in southeast Atlanta.

So far, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has not been able to identify the deceased suspect and police have not released the name of his alleged accomplice.

The shooting happened around midnight at the facility at 2505 Forrest Park Drive, according to Atlanta police. Officers responded to the location after getting a call about a person shot, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

When they arrived, they found two men shot, Jones said. And one of the men was already dead, she said.

Investigators said the two men were apparently breaking into shipping containers located at 1115 South River Industrial when they were confronted by the security guard and shots were fired. Both of the suspects were struck by gunfire and while one died at the scene, the other one was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, Jones said. The man's condition was not immediately known Monday.

It's also unclear if the suspects were armed and if they fired any shots. Still, there was no report of the security guard being injured. And so far, police have not released the name of the security guard.

Along with homicide investigators, the medical examiner’s office and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene to investigate, police said.
