A retired Catholic school teacher from Holbrook was arrested Friday morning on felony child pornography charges, Suffolk County police said.
Detectives arrested Thomas Bouklas, 64, after executing a search warrant at his home on Arnold Street in Holbrook. Cops said Computer Crimes Unit detectives charged Bouklas after an investigation after revealed that he had downloaded and possessed child pornography through the internet. The officers then seized computers, hard drives and assorted media from his home, police said.
Bouklas is a retired teacher and former soccer coach at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip. Local media outlets reported on Bouklas’ retirement back in 2002, after 32 years of coaching. A spokesperson for the Diocese of Rockville Centre did not immediately respond to a request for additional information about Bouklas’ time at St. John the Baptist.
Bouklas was charged with a sole felony count of possessing a sexual performance of a child. He was processed this morning at the Seventh Precinct and then transported to First District Court in Central Islip, where he is scheduled to be arraigned today.
Calls placed to Bouklas’ wife, who serves as the Women’s Athletic Director at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School, as well as calls to Bouklas’ home went unanswered Friday afternoon.
