Bryan Urbano, 21, of Jamaica, is awaiting arraignment Oct. 29 at First District Court in Hempstead on charges of third-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
Police said they said arrested Urbano on Monday after watching him trying to sell the alleged stolen merchandise.
On Aug. 14, Urbano was driving behind a Cablevision subcontractor on the Long Island Expressway, police said. As the two approached Exit 41, a number of Cisco Outdoor Mesh Access Point Wi-Fi Transmitters fell off the cable work truck. Cops said Urbano pulled over, “recovered some of the items and left the scene.”
After detectives launched an investigation with Cablevision officials, they made an undercover purchase of some of the alleged stolen equipment Monday. Other detectives watched as Urbano traded the equipment for cash.
Police were able to recover six of the Wi-Fi transmitters.
