A Nassau County man was arrested early Monday when cops allegedly caught him ransacking a cell phone store after breaking through the front door with a pickaxe, police said in a news release.

Raymond W. Castro, 29, of Uniondale, is awaiting arraignment Feb. 4 after being charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Officers were called to respond to an alarm around 6 a.m. Monday at a Boost Mobile store at 418 Uniondale Ave. When First Precinct patrol officers arrived, they saw Castro “carrying numerous boxes of merchandise from the store,” a news release said. Detectives said Castro used a pickaxe to break through the store’s glass door.

Castro, cops said, tried to flee the scene, but was quickly caught and arrested. All the merchandise was recovered.

Castro is scheduled to appear Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead for arraignment.
