A man and woman from Franklin Square were arrested Wednesday morning after they allegedly burglarized a commercial building in New Hyde Park and brought their 3-year-old child along to the break-in, Nassau County police said.
Frank Simone, 29 and Allyson Tibaldi, 26, of 1149 Benmore Ave., were arraigned Aug. 28 at First District Court in Hempstead on burglary and child endangerment charges.
Police allege the couple took their 3-year-old daughter to help them commit a commercial burglary at a building on Jericho Turnpike that occurred at 4:32 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Cops said Tibaldi was keeping watch while Simone climbed onto a second floor landing and entered two separate apartments. While inside, he allegedly stole jewelry and prescription narcotics before the duo fled from the scene with their young child.
Detectives tracked down the couple on Wednesday. Officers nabbed Tibaldi in her home around 2 a.m. and were able to find Simone along Sunrise Highway in Bellmore at 4:20 a.m.
Police charged the duo with two counts of second-degree burglary and endangering the welfare of a child Simone was additionally charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle.
At arraignment hearings on Wednesday, Simone was ordered held on $27,000 cash bail or $52,000 bond; Tibaldi was held in lieu of $26,000 bail or $52,000 bond. They are both due back in court on Aug. 30.
